Quito, how I miss you!

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to spend a summer in Ecuador.  After even a few short weeks in Quito, I was in love!  The hustle and bustle of any city home to over two million is awe-inspiring, but Quito holds something special.  It is a city full of life, a kaleidascope of vibrant color, and the friends I made there will always hold a very dear place in my heart.

During my stay in Ecuador, I was a member of a very special team of volunteers helping orphaned children and youth with disabilities.  Constant inspiration was to be found in the employees of facilities and hospitals we volunteered in, and of course our lives were all immeasurably touched by the beautiful children we cared for.

Every day, I find myself thinking about the time I spent in Quito; especially lately, however, I have been missing that beautiful city and the amazing people I met there.  I miss the busy streets crammed with yellow taxi cabs, I miss the central market and all of the tasty foods I tried there, and, of course, I miss the adorable babies.  In honor of the beautiful city of Quito, here are some Etsy finds that reminded me of my time there...

If you know of anyone who may be interested in a volunteer opportunity, you can check out the Orphanage Support Services website.
